Wortdrop · Privacy policy

Your words stay on your iPhone.

Wortdrop has no account, no server, no analytics and no advertising. This page says exactly what the app touches and why.

What Wortdrop stores

Your decks, words, answers and settings are saved in one file inside the app's own storage on your device. The Lock Screen widgets and the Live Activity read the same file. Nothing is sent to us or to anyone else.

Deleting the app deletes this file. If you want to keep it, use Settings › Back up everything, which writes a file you control.

What Wortdrop never does

Features that use iOS services

Notifications (word drops). Optional. If you turn them on, iOS asks for permission once. The notifications are scheduled on the device itself.

Siri and Shortcuts. “Add a word to Wortdrop” and “How many words are left” run on your device through Apple's App Intents. Apple's Siri privacy terms apply to what you say to Siri.

Pronunciation. Words are spoken with the iPhone's built-in voices. No audio leaves the device.

Words from a photo. Optional. “Choose photos” shows only the photos you pick; Wortdrop gets no access to the rest of your library. “Take photo” makes iOS ask for camera permission the first time. The text is read on your iPhone with Apple's on-device text recognition. The photo is not saved by Wortdrop and is never uploaded.

Anki import. A deck file you open is read on the device. Only the fields you choose are kept; the rest is discarded.

Words with Claude

The optional “New words with Claude” button copies a prompt to your clipboard and opens the Claude app or claude.ai. From that moment you are in Anthropic's product under Anthropic's privacy policy. Wortdrop only receives the text you paste back, and shows you a preview before saving anything.

Children

Wortdrop collects no personal data from anyone, including children.
